Smoky Quartz

Smoky Quartz is a form of quartz that comes in a grey color. Some stones are very dark grey (almost black and opaque) while others are very clear (translucent). The composition of Smoky Quartz is very similar to grains of sand since they are both mostly made of Silicone Dioxide. Throughout the years, people used Smoky quartz for different purposes. It was a common material to make lenses in sunglasses, various types of jewelry, ceremonial knives and etc. This variety of Quartz is quite common and some of the largest resources are available in Brazil, China, USA and Australia.

Smoky Quartz is used in Feng Shu to ground the energy and it is also a protection stone. It is not a zodiac stone of any sign; however Smoky Quartz has a strong affinity with signs like Libra and Capricorn. When it comes to Chakras, Smoky Quartz is considered to be one of the strongest crystals for activating Root Chakra. It can also be helpful in balancing and directing energy from other Chakras (upper) to the Root Chakra, which is beneficial for balancing the whole system.
