Amazonite
Amazonite is assigned to Feldspar group of minerals and its color is mostly green. Amazonite pieces with forest green shade are the most favourable and valuable. Other common colors of this gem are light green and bluish green. Many pieces of Amazonite also have white lines inside. This makes most pieces uneven in color and unique in appearance.
Amazonite crystal can be both opaque and translucent. The name of this gem is related to Amazon river, which is found in South America. Nevertheless, this area doesn’t have any large resources of Amazonite. Due to this it is thought that Amazonite name was given due to similarity of color with rainforests surrounding the river. Today the largest resources of Amazonite are found in countries like India, Brazil, USA, Ethiopia, Russia and others.
